Vanity Installation Tips: What to Know Before Delivery

Vanity Installation Tips: What to Know Before Delivery

You’ve chosen the perfect vanity, now comes the part many homeowners overlook: the installation. Whether you're transforming a compact ensuite or refreshing a tired family bathroom, knowing what to expect before your vanity arrives can save time, money, and more than a little frustration.

Royal Vanities understand that a bathroom upgrade is about more than just aesthetics. Since 2016, we've helped thousands of Australians get it right the first time with fully assembled, ready-to-install vanities that simplify the process from the moment they arrive. But even with the easiest-to-fit product, preparation makes all the difference.

How delivery works and what to expect

Royal Vanities offers reliable, Australia-wide delivery, but it’s important to understand exactly what’s included. All deliveries are kerbside only, meaning your order will be dropped at the nearest point where the truck can safely park. This excludes internal transport, stair navigation, or positioning the vanity inside your home. Unpacking, lifting assistance, and installation are not included.

To avoid surprises:

  • Have at least two people available to move the unit indoors, especially for wider vanities (900mm+) or those with solid marble or timber tops.
  • Deliveries in Victoria occur on Fridays between 8am and 5pm.
  • Interstate delivery is available to most metro and regional areas across VIC, NSW, ACT, QLD, SA and TAS.
  • We do not currently ship to WA or NT.

Measure your space before you order

Avoid costly mistakes by measuring more than just the vanity width. Use a tape measure to assess:

  • The installation area: width, depth, and height, factoring in tiles, skirting boards and wall outlets
  • Access points: hallways, staircases, door frames, and even lift dimensions
  • Clearance zones for opening drawers, cabinet doors, or moving comfortably in the space

If you're considering a wall-hung vanity, check for stud locations or confirm whether structural support is required for installation.

Tip: Bring a photo and basic dimensions of your space to our Bayswater or Seaford showroom, and our expert team can help find the right fit.

Plan your plumbing layout and trades in advance

Plumbing compatibility is key to a smooth installation, and overlooked more often than you'd think. Before your vanity arrives, confirm:

  • Water inlet and waste outlet positions
  • Whether your setup is floor or rear waste
  • The tap hole and basin configuration, especially for above-counter or semi-inset basins

If you've selected a wall-mounted unit, the wall may need internal bracing installed before plastering or tiling. A licensed plumber or builder can advise on this during the early renovation stages.

All water connections must be completed by a licensed tradesperson to comply with Australian standards and ensure your product warranty remains valid.

Inspect your vanity as soon as it arrives

When your delivery arrives, take the time to inspect it thoroughly before moving or installing it. Check for:

  • Damage to the carton or visible scuffs on the unit
  • Cracks, chips or marks on benchtops and surfaces
  • Missing parts or incorrect finishes

Do not begin installation until you've contacted our team if something appears incorrect. Early reporting helps us resolve issues quickly and protects your purchase.

Make installation smooth and stress-free

Royal Vanities’ fully assembled products are designed to save you time, but preparation still plays a part in a successful fit. Installation typically involves:

  • Positioning and levelling the unit
  • Anchoring it securely to the wall or floor
  • Connecting plumbing and sealing edges

Most licensed plumbers or bathroom installers can complete the job in 1–2 hours, provided plumbing and surfaces are ready.

Want a cohesive finish? Pair your vanity with a matching mirror, shaving cabinet, or tapware from our collection.

Frequently asked questions

Can I install the vanity myself? Our vanities are fully assembled, but a licensed plumber must connect the plumbing to ensure compliance and protect your warranty.

What if my plumbing doesn’t align with the unit? That’s why planning matters. Speak to your plumber or bring your measurements into our showroom before choosing your unit.

Will Royal Vanities carry the product into my home? No. All deliveries are kerbside only. Please organise assistance for safe handling if needed.

Do I need to reinforce my wall for a wall-hung vanity? Yes, wall-hung units may require structural support. Consult your builder before wall finishing is complete.
